ECAT is the acronym of Engineering College Admission Test, University of Engineering & Technology the authority body to conduct this test in Pakistan. Engineering College Admission Test (ECAT) is the only body who takes every ECAT examination to pre-engineering students in the Punjab province. Every year 45000 students enter to attempts and try their luck for this test but in them 3000 have to be selected to apply in engineering studies toward this.
Students have ECAT test content within four Subjects i.e. Chemistry, English Math and Physics who are belonging to F.Sc. Pre-Engineering or equivalent level of study program, pattern of ECAT test is based on up the decided by every respective University and Science College.
These four subjects Chemistry, English, Math and Physics are the standard subjects in ECAT format. Although English contents a bit differ from university to university like as the ECAT exams format of UET Lahore is different than NUST ECAT exam format. The Subjects and questions marks weight of the test varies considerably one university to another institution as well.
According to UET Lahore Punjab ECAT test will contain four parts, out of them three parts carries 30 marks and remaining 10 marks carries English subject, all subjects in ECAT exams based on Multiple choice questions (MCQs) and each MCQ will has 4 marks, right answer gives full 4 marks and wrong will cut 1 mark. Previous track and percentage of Matric, Inter marks are not enough but getting good score in ECAT exams is compulsory to get admission for engineering institution.
UET Lahore Punjab or other engineering colleges and universities in Pakistan they all have required score 320 or more and with F.Sc. 1st year 480 marks least or greater would be preferable. Average or marginally lower ECAT marks possibly not enough affected to get admission to that candidate in any engineering institution.
